Pinot Noir & Food! - “Real Wine” Episode 07

Pinot Noir is nicknamed “the heartbreak grape” - on this episode of Real Wine, we put our hearts on the line with a 2009 Ampelos and a Pinot Evil from France. Plus, our first-ever guest, Chef Angela Webb, shows us how to make some simple foods to pair with wine. Join host Kateland Carr as she tries to make drinking wine more down to Earth.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’

SOCIALISM
You have 2 cows.
You give one to your neighbour.

COMMUNISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and gives you some milk.

FASCISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and sells you some milk.

NAZISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and shoots you.

This is a music video I directed for Mike Park (founder of Asian Man Records, founding member of Skankin’ Pickle) in 2005. Just realized I didn’t have it anywhere online, and thought I would share.  Blast from the past…

This week’s HSA post is one of my favorites.

Give this video 18 minutes and you’ll understand the last 30 years of music. In fact, I’d recommend minimizing the window and just listening. It’s amazing what you’ll learn about what you already thought you knew.

The 10th and FINAL part of my MIAMI VICE journals (from way back in 2006), in which we survive the doldrums of post-production. Now - I had intended to edit one more video, from the test screening process (which includes private jets and trips to Vegas and Oakland), but then I got busy with “Sam Has 7 Friends.” Maybe I’ll actually do it for old times sake…

Part 9 of my MIAMI VICE journals (from way back in 2005), in which we depart Miami and return to Montevideo for the final stretch of principal photography. I can’t believe how long ago this was, it really feels like last year.

New Mediacracy Episode 25: The One About The Dark Side of Web Video
We sit down with Felicia Day of The Guild, Doctor Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog, and the forthcoming Dragon Age web series, and Ryan Copple, the creator of Riese the Series, to talk about how their projects came together and stories about the choices they have made and their view of the industry. Come hang out with them and NM regulars Zadi Diaz, Chris McCaleb, and Steve Woolf for wine, gummybears, cappuccino lollipops, and laughs.
There’s talk about some recent soul-searching walkabouts to get perspective on burning out, selling your soul, meeting the devil at the crossroads of Santa Monica and Wilshire, web trolls, genocide in Finding Nemo, the term “story designer,” the awfulness of the word “transmedia,” and Brazilian waxes. Yup, full show.
